Hello Everyone,

Please pardon my mass emailing.

I'm writing because at one point or another you have expressed
interest in being informed of Hacker Trips To China that I
organize each year.

Please let me know if you would like to not be included in any
future emailings from me about China trips.

I'm excited to say that I've set the dates, and the start and end
cities for this year's Hacker Trip To China. And I've arranged for
my plane tickets.

The start and end dates/cities are:
3-November: meet in Beijing (at a hotel I'll specify later)
23-November: last day -- in Shenzhen

If you think you may be interested in joining me on this year's
Hacker Trip To China, please let me know!

If you want to be part of this year's Hacker Trip To China, all you
really need to do is buy your plane ticket to arrive in Beijing on
or before 3-November, and add yourself to the Trip's wiki (or let me
know so I can add you):
https://noisebridge.net/wiki/NoisebridgeChinaTrip8

Feel free to join the HTTC (Hacker Trip To China) for as much or as
little as you like -- no need to go for the entire three weeks
(though, I hope you can join for all three weeks since there is so
much to experience).

This is not your normal travel group.

I don't charge anything. I do this because I think it is awesome to
do.

Every Hacker Trip To China is unique. I only set up an outline,
make sure there are local geeks to show us around, arrange for
housing and transportation within China, and we collectively, and
through serendipity, make all the magic happen.

And China really is a magical place. Hackerspaces are exploding in
numbers like nowhere else on Earth. At least, places called
hackerspaces are. Are they real places where people have
opportunities to explore and do what gives each person meaning in
their life? Are they merely lightly veiled excuses for enriching
real estate ventures? Are they just vapid spaces for more stupid
startups? Are they promulgated by bureaucrats who want a feather in
their cap? Yes to all of the above. As well as other answers no
one even knows yet. But, we
can visit a bunch of them, if you like, and we can see for
ourselves. We can also have a positive impact on how these new
spaces move forward.

We'll also visit schools and universities, and possibly talk to
Chinese education ministers. Education is a realm that is also
changing quickly in China. And we can help make a very positive
impact for the future of China and
the world by sharing our enthusiasm for our creative processes.

We'll also visit manufacturers so everyone can see how and where the
gadgets in our lives come from. It's truly fascinating. And if you
are interested in creating a product from your ideas, this is a
great way to learn about opportunities for yourself.

There are plenty of (optional) opportunities for everyone on the
Trip to give presentations about whatever interests you, as well as
(optionally) to give demos of any projects you may be working on.
But, these really are optional. No need to feel you need to be
working on projects to join this year's HTTC (Hacker Trip To China).

We'll also, of course, visit spectacular "normal" tourist places.
And everywhere we go, we'll be shown around by local geeks.

I'll organize housing and travel within China. You need to arrange
for your own plane to/from China.

(FYI -- I make no money at all from organizing these Trips -- in
fact, it's a huge f*ing pain in the ass! But I like organizing this
Trip each year, 'cause it's so cool for me and everyone who joins
me.)

Here is our probably itinerary:
